Marcel Kramer has announced his departure as Chairman and CEO of the Dutch-based gas infrastructure company, Gasunie. As per his contract, he will step down at the end of August 2010, the month in which he hopes to turn 60. Marcel Kramer joined Gasunie in 2003, after twelve years with Statoil (in Norway, Singapore and Venezuela) and several other international positions. Under his leadership, Gasunie has established itself as a successful independent gas infrastructure and transport company, providing services to a growing number of international customers, for whom major expansions are being implemented, in the Netherlands and abroad. Together with Royal Vopak, Kramer initiated the Gate terminal project in Rotterdam, the first LNG terminal in the Netherlands. Gasunie also built a major pipeline to the UK (BBL), expanded its network into Germany, and became a shareholder in Nord Stream, the world’s largest pipeline project currently under construction. As a result, Gasunie is now a leading European gas infrastructure company. The Supervisory Board of Gasunie is actively searching for a successor.
