Gasunie’s gas transport infrastructure and that of the adjacent regions sets the tone in Europe. Within the market, Gasunie has a reputation as a safe and reliable gas transporter.
However, the market is also strongly on the move. Several prominent players are striving to gain a major position in gas transport on the European continent. Gasunie will be competing with these players.
Gasunie will react pro-actively to expanding international gas flows. We will continue to work on accommodating the long-term demand for the transport of both Dutch and foreign flows, on offering short-term storage capacity, on participation in an LNG terminal (Gate terminal) and on the expansion of hub services. Gasunie participates in international pipeline projects that are important to the Netherlands. It also looks for opportunities to work with adjoining grids or participate in them, as in the case of Gasunie Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG..
The first steps were been taken with the construction of the Balgzand-Bacton Line (BBL), a gas pipeline running from the Netherlands to the United Kingdom. This project was executed by Gasunie for BBL Company. Gasunie also has Belgian and German partners in this company. This new international connection is an important link in the transport of gas from Russia to the West. We are also participating in projects to expand activities in liquid natural gas (LNG) and the storage of gas in salt caverns.
Safety, health and environment have always been leading principles underpinning the policies of Gasunie. This will remain so. We have introduced a quality control system that controls processes, charts performances and identifies areas for improvement. Gasunie now manages an underground grid comprising 15,000 km and numerous installations. Safety is a top priority; after all, we have an first class reputation to maintain.
Gasunie believes in sustainability. To reflect and enhance this belief both within and beyond the organization, Gasunie is actively involved in several projects in this field.
Gasunie aims at growth. We have many expert, capable and dedicated employees. It is essential that Gasunie retains and sharpens its strengths and develops and/or adds new capabilities. This is imperative, since we are operating in a competitive market. Gasunie wants to be attractive to new employees who will contribute to our transport operations and services in the European gas market.
