Today Queen Beatrix officially opened Gate terminal, the first LNG terminal in the Netherlands. Gate terminal is an important new milestone for energy supply in the Netherlands and Europe: it opens the "gate" to global natural gas supplies and stimulates trade in gas in the free market.

Gate terminal is the result of close cooperation between Gasunie and Vopak, two Dutch companies with a long tradition in storage and transport.
