Gasunie to overhaul senior management structureGroningen | press release
Gas infrastructure company N.V. Nederlandse Gasunie (Gasunie) has started a far-reaching restructuring of the internal organisation, including the overhaul of its senior management structure. The new structure is intended to ensure that Gasunie can continue in future to carry out its gas transport tasks well, for its customers and in the public interest.
Pieter Trienekens, the current Participations & Business Development Director, who has been an Executive Board member since 2005, is to retire on 1 July. On 1 October Eric Dam, Construction and Maintenance Director, who has been an Executive Board member since 2005, will leave to take up a new post as President of the Energy Delta Institute (EDI), an international business school in the energy and natural gas sector. He will fulfil this role while retaining some of his current Gasunie responsibilities (preparation of the World Gas Conference) until 1 August 2012.
The restructuring of the internal organisation is scheduled to be completed by 1 October 2011. The two outgoing Board members will be replaced by only one.
Geert Graaf is to join the Executive Board of Gasunie on 1 October 2011. Mr Graaf has been General Manager of Gas Transport Services B.V. (GTS), a subsidiary of Gasunie, since 2007. He will retain responsibility for regulated network operations in the new Executive Board. With effect from 1 October 2011, Gasunie will have a three-member Executive Board: Paul van Gelder, Chairman and CEO, Henk Chin Sue, CFO, and Geert Graaf, Executive Board member.
Annie Krist has been appointed Managing Director of Gas Transport Services B.V. with effect from 1 July. Mrs Krist is currently Strategy & Participations Director at Gasunie. On the same date, Ulco Vermeulen will take over the post of Participations & Business Development Director from Mr Trienekens.
Executive Board Chairman and CEO Paul van Gelder: ‘By adjusting our organisation we will become even better connected to the environment in which we operate. This ‘fit-for-purpose’ company structure will increase efficiency and decisiveness and improve transparency. This is crucial in order to strengthen our position as a leading gas infrastructure company in northwestern Europe. With our excellent track record in safety, efficiency and customer focus, Gasunie continues to make an active contribution to a safe and affordable gas supply and hence to a sustainable energy future.’

Gasunie is a European gas infrastructure company. The Gasunie network ranks among the largest high pressure gas pipeline grids in Europe, consisting of over 15,000 kilometres of pipeline in the Netherlands and northern Germany, dozens of installations and approximately 1,300 gas receiving stations. The annual gas throughput totals approximately 125 billion cubic metres. We serve the public interest in the markets in which we are active and work to create optimum value for our stakeholders. We are the first independent gas transport provider with a cross-border network in Europe.
Gasunie offers transport services via its subsidiaries Gas Transport Services B.V. (GTS) in the Netherlands and Gasunie Deutschland Transport Services GmbH in Germany.
We also offer other services in the gas infrastructure field, including gas storage and LNG. We consider the wishes of our customers to be of prime importance.
We aim for the highest standards in safety, reliability, efficiency and sustainability. Due to the reliability and strategic location of the Gasunie network in relation to expanding international gas flows, the Gasunie network forms the core of what is called the northwest European 'gas roundabout'.
