Link4Hubs enhances cross-border gas trading in North-West Europe| press release
Link4Hubs, a joint new firm-day-ahead service initiative of the three transmission system operators (TSOs), Energinet.dk, Denmark, Gas Transport Services (GTS), The Netherlands, and Gasunie Deutschland Transport Services (Gasunie Deutschland), Germany, opens up new possibilities for cross-border gas trading in North-West Europe.
This innovative service directly connects shippers’ portfolios in the grids of the three participating TSOs and hence eases the exchange of gas between the virtual trading points of Energinet.dk (GTF), GTS (TTF) and Gasunie Deutschland (GASPOOL). The registration process for shippers is scheduled to start as of 1 June 2010, Link4Hubs will be available for trading as of this summer. It is a customer-friendly ‘one-click’ service, which combines the processes of capacity booking and nomination.
With Link4Hubs the three TSOs aim to meet market demand for flexible and short-term access to firm cross-border transmission capacity. Link4Hubs therefore contributes to the efficient functioning of the European gas market and facilitates competition in the interest of gas users in North-West Europe. The three companies regard the new service as the successful outcome of their close cooperation in improving the service to their customers. It is an important step towards efficient and coordinated market development in North-West Europe. Link4Hubs will start as a pilot, but may in the future be expanded to include other TSOs and Hubs.
