Wienerberger: taking a proactive step forward

Wienerberger is a market leader in ceramic building and paving materials. They also have big ambitions for building a circular and sustainable future. ‘Wienerberger feels a tremendous responsibility to contribute to a sustainable solution. At the same time, there is also a commercial necessity. Especially in the current market, it’s important that we reduce emissions and become more sustainable.’

‘Local availability and the ability to scale up are extremely important to us. For example, we’re looking at electrification, biogas and hydrogen. We are in discussions with Gasunie to explore the possibility of connecting to the hydrogen network.’

‘There are still more than enough challenges in the process; that’s why it’s important that we take a proactive step forward. We need to work on building hydrogen expertise, setting up our plants, and obtaining permits. Most important, we need to work towards a centralised infrastructure to supply clean energy to industry.’
