Tim van der Hagen joins Gasunie’s Supervisory Board
Press release
As of 1 April the Dutch finance minister, acting in representation of Gasunie’s sole shareholder, the Dutch state, has appointed Professor Tim van der Hagen to Gasunie’s Supervisory Board. The appointment came following a nomination by the Supervisory Board. Van Der Hagen chairs the Executive Board and is also rector magnificus of Delft University of Technology. On the Supervisory Board, he will succeed Dirk-Jan van den Berg, who has stepped down after serving two full four-year terms.
Tim van der Hagen (1959) has a degree in Engineering Physics from Eindhoven University of Technology and a doctorate (1989) from Delft University of Technology, where he subsequently joined the Reactor Institute Delft, which conducts research into energy, materials, and health. In 2016, he was appointed chair of Delft University of Technology’s Executive Board and since 2018 he has also been the university’s rector magnificus. He was reappointed to another four-year term in 2020. Over the past years, he helped write various advisory reports on energy and climate policy, including in the context of the Dutch Climate Agreement.
Chairman of the Supervisory Board Pieter Duisenberg: ‘Gasunie is working on a large number of projects that will make our country’s energy supply cleaner and greener. Innovation, collaboration with knowledge institutions, and the development of new technological solutions are crucial in that respect. Tim van der Hagen’s joining will further strengthen Gasunie’s Supervisory Board in these important areas. We are, therefore, extremely pleased with his appointment.’
