Circular purchasing
Gasunie purchases significant amounts of steel on an annual basis. The total weight of steel purchased by Gasunie in 2024 was made of 13.2% recycled materials. In 2024, for the first time, we bought a pipeline made of 100% scrap.
A purchased asset, component or material is at most 50% circularly purchased if it consists of 100% recycled materials. The other 50% (maximum) is achieved if, at the end of its useful life, this product can be 100% reused elsewhere. Together this comes to a maximum of 100% for a purchased item. In 2025, we are working on formulating concrete targets for the outflow of steel. To assess the circularity of materials, Gasunie is introducing commodity passports and Environmental Product Declarations.
