Methane emission reduction
By 2030, our methane emissions (CH4) should be approximately half what they were in 2020. This means we are doing better than the Global Methane Pledge, which assumes a minimum emission reduction of 30%.
Natural gas consists mainly of methane. Like carbon dioxide, methane is a greenhouse gas. Methane is released when starting and stopping compressors, when operating equipment with natural gas pressure, from fugitive leaks and work carried out on the transport network. No interim goal applies for this Green Deal.
