Market consultation hydrogen backbone

Gasunie is working on the realisation of hydrogen infrastructure. This infrastructure connects the five Dutch 'industrial clusters' with each other, with storage facilities in the Netherlands and with the adjacent infrastructure at the border points.

By means of a market consultation, Gasunie wants to investigate the future demand for and supply of hydrogen in order to develop, together with potential users (producers, shippers and customers), future transport and storage services to meet the needs of the market.

The market consultation process consists of five steps:

• A webinar for potential users of the hydrogen infrastructure outlining the developments surrounding the hydrogen backbone and hydrogen storage, including the commercial and technical aspects.
• A non-binding questionnaire to understand the wishes and needs of potential users of the hydrogen services.
• Partly on the basis of the insights obtained, the hydrogen services will be concretised. Unfortunately, we see that the analysis of study results and the information from market parties takes more time than initially anticipated. This means that we will not share a presentation on the follow-up and start one or more regional Expression of Interest (EoI) processes in mid-November, but early in Q1 2021.
• Expression of Intereset (EoI): potential users of the hydrogen infrastructure can express their interest through the EoI process. Gasunie expects to start a regional EoI process  early in Q1 2021, first focusing on the clusters where interest in hydrogen and related services seems most urgent.
