Gasunie and the energy system of the future

Gasunie is working on II3050: the Integral Infrastructure Reconnaissance 2030-2050. In other words: the study of the energy system of the future.

Marijke Kellner, Manager Energy System at Gasunie, is leading this project.

To keep the energy system affordable and reliable, we need insight into the long-term development of the networks for gas, electricity, hydrogen, heat, green gas and CO2. This in-depth study of CO2-neutral future scenarios makes that possible and gives us the first insights'. - Marijke Kellner, Programme leader II3050

Our partners TenneT and Netbeheer Nederland

Gasunie and TenneT are working together with regional network operators on the Integral Infrastructure Exploration 2030-2050 (II3050) with the aim of creating a robust and CO2-neutral energy system of the future. This cooperation is organised within a working group of Netbeheer Nederland. The aim of II3050 is to provide a broadly supported long-term perspective for such a system and the associated energy networks. This picture of the future must provide a basis for government policy and investment decisions. To this end, the government, industry, energy companies, market players and grid managers must develop a joint vision of the energy system in 2050 and the road towards it.

About TenneT

TenneT is a leading European Transmission System Operator (TSO) with operations in the Netherlands and Germany. They strive to ensure a reliable and uninterrupted supply of electricity in our high-voltage grid for approximately 42 million end-users.

About Netbeheer Nederland
